While on this walk about I have had the dreaded smell coming from the wash room. I am ll most anal about keeping the black tank flushed out and cleaned. Repeatedly flushed it and cleaned it. Finally traced the smell coming fron the drain of the shower. Put some of the black tank chemical down the drain place about three gallons of water all is ok now. I will place a gallon of bleach in it and the galley tank when I leave here and drain at my next stop. Just a word because your are gettin a smell it does not have to be with the black tank

Im thinking a whole gallon might be a bit too much,,,,,try a couple of cups first with a gallon of water,,,fumes from that much bleach might be dangerous !

The geo method for the black water tank says to use a half gallon of bleachto help control odors in the black water tank. It also says to add the 1/2 gallon when the tank is half full. It seems to help with odors in my black water tank.Edited by: fixit5561

Sounds like the p-trap on the shower drain might have dryed out and let the smell come back up into the trailer. If thats the case, about a quart of water will refill the trap and seal of the smell.

We use the Geo method for our tanks and add bleach to the black tank only when we notice an odor. It usually only happens when it is hot outside. I usually add about 1/2 cup if we are going to be in one spot for a while but I have filled the black tank about 2/3 full and then added 1/2 gallon between cgs to really "clean" it. I have only done that a couple of times and only when 1 cup didn't "get 'er done!"

lonnie,
i usually just empty my tanks at the campground when i leave. i installed a cesspool (4'x6' ring and a dome)on the side of my house (where i park my trailer)for cleaning my tanks.just like you i keep my tanks clean. i'll flush theblack tank 6 or 7 times and i always flush my grey tank 2or 3 times. if you have a chance try flushing your grey tank also.

Keep in mind that I have been out 14 days when this occured, and it came from the grey tank. Took awhile to track down

Glad I used the Porta-Pottie outside your rig when visiting last Wednesday. Had to do something with the processed Abita Golden!

I agree, that is your problem. I bet you weren't using the shower, but were using the campground facilities.
