Setting up yesterday and extending the corner jacks on the Sunset Trail and discovered one of the rear scissor jacks had nothing but the threaded rod. The "cap" that the crank fits on to raise and lower the jack was gone. Didn't even know those things were removable. Haven't looked closely this morning but wondering if anyone has seen that before? Can it be repaired or will I have to replace the whole jack?

They only run $40-$50, just get a new one. Just a few bolts.

True, but it is less than 7 months old. Hopefully under warranty, but yeah, I'm not going to haul the thing to the dealer for that.

Since it's under warranty it will be worth it to contact Crossroads or your dealer and see if they can ship one directly to you. My entry lock seized and Terry from Crossroads sent me one under warranty to my door.

I will probably contains the dealer. Last time I sent an email to CR asking about how to get covers for the kitchen sink, I never got a response. Having one shipped directly to me would be great, though.

I think customer service is very busy. They in most cases don't answer e-mails. You need to call them and talk to someone on the phone. Every time I called I got resultes.

X2 Emails are a waste of time. Unless you have already made a specific contact with someone the phone is the best way to contact. Voice mail is not effective either.

X3.Have had two issues that I needed to contact Crossroads over and both times e- mails accomplished nothing. Called and talked to someone and everything was promptly taken care of.

Update: So today I finally found time to call Crossroads, and they referred me back to the local dealer. Called him up, explained the situation, told him I would rather remove the jack myself and just exchange it, and he said "No problem. Bring it in and we'll swap". Cool. Now, the strange part. As I was looking at the jack to see what I needed to remove it, it sure looked to me like it had somehow gotten reversed. That is, the hex cap that the crank fits on seems to be on the inside rather than the outside of the trailer. WTH! I looked at the other jacks and see that they have the inside just the threaded rod, and the end of the rod to the outside has the cap. This particular one has the cap inside and the threaded end facing out. And yes, I have extended the stabilizer jack on several camping trips. I am going to try to just unbolt it and turn it around to see if it works. Really weird.

Sounds to me like the installer was in a hurry and didn't pay attention to the fact that they were installing them backwards. Quantity over Quality is the way of manufacturing today. You should be able to unbolt them and turn them 180 degrees.

I could understand that, but we have had this camper since January, and it wasn't backward before. Like I said, weird.

Well, I think I solved the mystery, and I'm a little embarrassed. As I was removing the jack, it occurred to me that when I took the trailer in for some maintenance work a while back (the sensors on the tanks were not working), the dealer had to drop the belly covers to get to the sensors. To do that, they probably removed the jack, and just put it on backward. So yes, somebody got in a hurry and wasn't paying attention. It's all better now, though.
