I recently put a little over 10,000 miles on our fifth wheel & noticed some wear, but it's a even wear i see no promblem with the axles. How many miles are you suppose to get on these tires?I have been seeing from some post that they are not that good of tires. Is that so?Thanks Edited by: campsurveyor

If you keep them at the max air pressure and rotate them you should get a lot of miles out of them. If they are the cheap china bomb tires you are lucky you have gone 10k miles without any issues. Most of the time it is age and UV light that kills an RV tire.

Sad to say but unless something I don't know about has changed you probably have cheap tires. We have been looking at new trailers and have found two manufactures that will upgrade to Goodyear G614 G Load range tires for $400. That will go into our decision making when it comes time to purchase. Our trailer came with Mission tires that gave up before 5k miles. So we had a new trailer and had to spend another $730 for new tires not 6 month's after we bought it. That does not sit well with me.

You are correct, and this is the last one we buy with crap tires. Our next one will either come with good tires, have them as an option orwe will not buy it.

I had to change all the "china bombs" on my PP, we are looking at a new Mobile Suite, they make a big sales pitch that they put goodyear on their units.....I would never consider any unit with those crap chineese tires, the dealer will be more than willing to change them if you do it before you close the deal, pretty hard to get that done after the paperwork is signed....

Maxxis tires are very well thought of in the RV community and an affordable option to moving up to 16" tires and Goodyear shoes.... Do a search over on RV.net on Maxxis tires.

Cooper now makes a tire for the trailers in this country They are called Power king the STC ST225/75R15 8ly will ost me 399.69 out the door. Nitrogen will run 5.00 more per tire. Sales person says that they will run 10 percent cooler on the highway. After towing in temps of 105 to 110 this summer for six hours at a time this seems to all most make since

Lots of posts on nitrogen. Don't waste your money on it. Air is 78% nitrogen. How to they put pure nitrogen in your tires, do they start out with a vacuum pump to get all the air out?

Yes I did watch them and the tire was evacuated all the air or a great portion was removed and the nitrogen was pumped in, they did this three time on one tire

AAhhh--the pros and cons of nitrogen!! I have heard it cussed and discussed both ways.
It would be nice if some one with a TPMS had a report on a before and after app.
Then, just maybe we could get a definite answer.

Look here: http:////blogs.consumerreports.org/cars/2007/10/tires-nitrogen-.html

According to Consumer Reports, while nitrogen seems to have some benefits, it doesn't appear that those benefits outweigh the costs. CR stresses that maintaining proper inflation will produce much the same gain.

At least that's the way I read it.

I read that my problem with that is that they filled the tires sat them out side for a year and took the PSI once more. The problem I have is that they sat there unloaded (no weight) and were not on a vehicle that moved in all kinds of weather. I do know that if it is 105 degrees out the pavement can be as high as 130 degrees depending on its construction. I do know that the tire will pick up the heat from the pavement plus add to it do to the friction. If it adds 20 more degrees than we are up 150 degrees if it keeps the tire 10 percent more cooler than it brings that tire down to 135 degrees is this enough to save the tires from blow outs???? I guess we would have to find a trucking fleet that went with thew nitrogen to see what savings they have had or not had. To me 20.00 is a lot of cash, but if it save a blow out (ruined tire) and damage to the fifth wheel it is a small price to pay

If you have nitrogen and a tire is soft you need to go to a dealer to get filled up? do they make nitrogen in a can to top your tire off? If you put air in with nitrogen that tire will heat quicker and expand more this will put more load on this tire also..

I think what I am going to do, is get two of them filled with nitrogen and the other two with air. I am taking Janet away next week end. I will get a electronic thermoter and take the temps at 100 miles and 200 miles. Coming back I will take them once we reach the storage yard. I will also take the temps of the road. Will be going to Abita Springs got to restock

Frank:
When we went out last week, (I have a TPMS) the tires on the side where the sun could get a good lick at them, consistently were at least 20-25 degrees warmer then the ones running on the shaded side.

The outside temps that day were in the mid 80s. Tire temps running in the shade side were in the high 80s. Tires running on the sunny side were either running at 107 or 115 I can't remember which.
Maybe Keith does, I told him.

I would think down there in your country, you could look at some REAL scary heat temps.
