tires

I have a set of Trail Express Power Touring tires that CR gave me. Original set 3 out of 4 blow out, CR replaced them, Then it went back to the factory twice so they gave me another set loose to install when ever I wanted. So I have had these on for about 8 months and one of them (front door side) is rounding like a over inflated tire, but has 80 psi like the rest of them and is showing no wear at all just dont sit flat. CR wont sell me a tire and they don't even know if they still use this brand. I'am having a hard time finding one, I would hate to replace it with my spare cause that was from the batch that blow. I was hoping to get a couple of years out of these before frplacing the set. So the question is would you buy a simular tire what ever brand and go with it? Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Brent that tire is about ready to loose the tread. I just had that happen Last month, 5500 in damage.. I think you have 16 inch tires, I have 15 inch. I would spend the money and go with an LT tire. BFG has just brought out a 15 inch tire that will work, but it has an off road tread. I have e mailed them to see what the load range is. And the other question is how will it pull with that type of tread. All those ST tires with the exception of some Marathons are made in China. Most of them by the same mfg and they just change the name on them when the rep goes south. Not just a CrossRoads deal but all most all of the RV manufactures have the same issues

Brent, go with a good set of LT tires as Frank said and never look back. I do not trust any of the ST tires on the market right now.

What about Maxxis? I am about ready to put another set of tires on my Cruiser and was going to go with Maxxis again. Have you heard of any problems with them lately?

Tires are so important. Spend your money on good tires. I had two blowouts in one trip with my old TT. Ripped my wheel well apart and broke my dinette bench seat. Never be cheap on tires and replace them at least every four to five years if not used a lot.

Hey Lonnie, good to see you back on the forum! To be honest from what I have seen Maxxis seems to be one of the better ST tires right now, thatand the Goodyear Marathons if you can find them made here and not overseas. I guess if I were going to go back to an ST tire I would probably look at the Maxxis. Now I have read of people having issues with the Maxxis just not as many bad reports as the other Chinese ST tires.

Thanks, I have been around just not as much as I would like.

I putMaxxis on my Cruiser about 3 1/2 years ago andestimateIput about 15-20K on them. They seemed to show virtually no wear until last summer and then they seemed to wear much more quickly. I will probably put Maxxis back on it but would consider an LT tire. I just worry about the side stress on the tire. Where I park my 5er beside my house I have to turn it pretty hard and it puts a lot of side stress on the tires. You can really see the wheel "roll" sideways on the tire when I am backing it in. I just worry about how an LT would handle that stress. Any thoughts?

Chuck N. Wined, I put LT's on my fifth wheel almost 6 years ago. They have been a great tire, made in the good'olU.S of A.and cost me hundred bucks each. I might have 4 or 5,000 miles on them and they still look brand new, even with a known bent axle. To back into my shed I have to do a U-turn. When I'm in a hurry the front of the camper is right next to the back window of my truck and the wheels on the camper are dancing. I have never had a problem with LT tires and tight turns. I was nervous about the torgue they go thru when turning but they seem to hold up fine.
