I'm considering putting a tonneau cover on my pickup and I'm wondering who on here uses one and what type you use. I'm thinking about a hard retractable cover that I can retract to right in front of my fifth wheel hitch while traveling. I am open to suggestions as to type and brand being used. I usually put a cap on for the winter, but I'm really tired of taking it off in spring and putting it back on for winter. My son hasn't lived with us for several years and I don't like to ask him for help as he has his own life. These things get kind of tough for an old geezer to load and unload.

I have a roll n lock cover. I've had it for over 4 yrs now and it works great. I've looked in the past at the fold a cover at it seems pretty good as well, it folds up nicely on the front of the box and allows access to the front of the box when it's closed as well. At the time I looked at it the locking mechanisim seem substandared to say the least. There are many out there now that have pretty good locking capabilities. Before you get your cover I strongly suggest getting spray in bed liner. Well worth the money.

I have the Tri fold it is a nice cover but I wouldn't recommend it. You can't see your hitch when trying to hook up. I had to install a mirror on the 5th wheel in order to see the hitch. Get one that rolls up to the cab.

I have been looking at a Retrax retractable cover and the local Ford dealer sells them. It looks like a pretty good cover.

I have a Fold-a-Cover on our truck. It simple to install, robust and lockable. I unfold it to pull our 5vrbecause it's built will 4 folding panels. I've had it originally on our '03 Silverado, and moved it to our '06. Edited by: Hamops

I have this one http://www.realtruck.com/retractor_hd_tonneau_cover/R141494P1C1T.html
I have had it for 3 years and love it. It is made by BAK for Real Truck. They have several other rolltops there as well. There is one by PE that is a little cheaper and looks like a good one as well.

I have a Retrax and love it hadfor over 2 years now. With 2 peopleI was ableto install it in about 1-2 hours, unpacking it takes about 15-20mins of the time. They had exceptional customer service, very detailed instructions and no drilling. Be cautious I have seen some fold-up covers fold flat against the back window completely blocking your view of the bed. With the ReTrax you'll lose about 1ft of your bed for the canister.
Check out some truck forums and see what those folks have to say.

I read a bunch of testimonials from Retrax owners and it is the only cover that I could find with sealed bearings in the retract system. I ordered one today. Thanks everyone for the replies. Edited by: DUNWRKN

Also, I've found that I have to adjust it periodically or it won't operate correctly regardless of the weather. Not a real big deal, but it can be annoying.

I bought the Access roll-up cover in 2002 and it's still working great. Wouldn't be without one. Keep it in the rolled up position when traveling with the 5th wheel and it's really nice once you get to your location to cover the bed back up (out of site out of mind).

The new Retrax tonneau went in my truck this afternoon and I'm happy as a clam. Next will be a spray in bed liner and a Tow Tector and I should be done for a while.

That's great... Your gonna like the ReTrax. Did you install it or have the dealer do it?

I had my ford dealer install it for me. They put them in all the time and it doesn't take them long.
