I'm in the process of purchasing a 33' crossroads() but it's been used as a seasonal camper for several years, so is up on blocks. My question is, what's the process to remove blocks to lower it to the ground without over flexing the frame? I have access to a couple of 20-30 ton bottle jacks, and Jack stands too. If anyone knows of a video depicting the process, that would be even better. Thanks, Eric
If they don't have it a long ways off the ground, it shouldn't be to difficult.
I would get the wheels and tires on it first. If still off the ground, you might need blocking to go around and lower it a little at a time all the way around as you proceed. To be safe it probably should be hooked to your tow vehicle, or something similar, so it can't move forward or back.
they lift and drop buildings all the time - don't you watch barn builders?
just keep it level as you can while coming down,
3 inches on one side, then 3 inches on the other side, and repeat
(probably can do much more than that, since we've been known to lift one side with jacks to work on a tire or something!)
Agree with the above. I would use small wooden blocks in between the jack and the axel; like 2x4's and jack up as close to the wheel on the axel as possible. Take your time and lower no more than 5 inches at a time.

I agree with all that was said so far, but the first thing I would do if I were you is inspect the tires you are lowering the camper onto...Which should include checking the date they were made, which is formed in the side wall of the tires...While it is in the air it might also be worth your while to inspect the brakes and bearings, since you will be towing it...IMHO...Good Luck...

Just spoke to a friend of mine who quite a bit of experience blocking/unblocking campers. He said to remove rearmost supports, then jack up the front (using front landing gear), remove blocking in front of wheels, then finally drop front and pull rearmost blocking.
This is the first time I've heard of removing blocking in a forward/rear manner.
What do you guys think?
