Upper front cap light wiring - dropped

I had the front cap painted, and removed the lights from it.
Once I got the upper clearance lights off, I saw that there was a fair amount of insulation behind it, so it would be safe enough to just leave the wiring sitting in the access hole.
Well, when I got it back, the wiring was nowhere to be found. I used a stiff wire with the end bent into a hook to probe around and try to hook it, but I ended up just pulling insulation. I have a little inspection camera, and looked for a very long time, but just run into insulation and air. I have looked for this wire for hours.
Perhaps someone knows where the wire comes from, so I can at least look in the right direction, or drop a fish wire to get a new wire run.
Any Ideas??

Maybe it runs over to the light on the other side. I'd check around to the left or right of the opening.
