Yesterday while installing my flying insect screens on my water heater door and furnace exhaust..a big fat wasp flew out of the refrigerator compartment.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

I have searched for screens for the frig and all I found was:

Camco 42149 Flying Insect Screen for Refrigerator Vent - Set of 3

I have tried to dream-up a handy-man solution, but have not really came up with anything.

Need advice.

What is everyone doing to keep the flying insects out of their frig compartment?

Terry, my wife took fiberglass window screen fabric we got at Home Depot and put it on the back side of our fridge vents. She used her hot melt glue gun and glued it to the back side of the vent. So far it is working great. You can't really see it from the outside of the trailer. The mesh is still big enough to allow air flow but small enough to keep insects out.

I used wire cloth from Ace Hardware and applied in a similar way Keith's with did. Covered the sharp edges with metal duct tape.

The Ace Hardware near me sells wire cloth by the foot and will cut whatever length you need. I think it was 1/8th inch weave.

I don't use any screens on my vents. I use the 2"blue carpenter;s tape on my vents when the TT is not being used. The tape is easy to put on, easy to take off and no glue resdue on the TT.

Ditto what Hunter11 and BDLuke did. A little screening fabric and a hot glue gun.

Off to the hardware store for the screen. Glue gun warming up.. Thanks for the nights to do list. Good info..

What do you use for furnace venting screen? I used screen before on the furnace and it wouldn't stay lit. Not enough air going though it..

Also my AC is a bee hive from time to time. What about that ?

This is what I use for the furnace and I also use the same type for the water heater cover. The AC's I just pull the covers off both them once in the Spring and once in the Fall and check for any invaders.

A old thread. But good advice. Just found a wasp nest in my fridge vents outside. Time to get out the glue gun. And head to Ace.

Thanks guys

So what did you use? Is it better to use the fabric from Ace or use fiberglas screening?

I used fiberglas screening on the refridge vents. Works great and easy to shape around the vent.

Fiberglass screen and hot glue! Quick and easy, does the job and holds up well.
