my 28RD has a water filter in the island connected to the hot water side. not sure why. the water in our trailer tastes terrible and I think it is because it was winterized with the pink stuff and that stuff ruined the filter element. has anybody come across this before. why is the filter installed on the hot side?
Not sure why it’s on the hot side either. Never winterize with filter in place. In spring I flush the lines with a bleach solution and rinse really well. If you don’t you’ll always get that pink antifreeze smell. We don’t drink the tap water in our campers, never have unless it’s full hookup.
yes bought used. it's a 2021 model, practically unused. the previous owner must have had it installed or put on himself. we discovered the foul water taste a few days ago on our maiden voyage with it.
Have you checked it for a filter? You may also have a filter behind the service panel in the basement storage. You will have to remove a wall to access it. Yes bad design. I moved ours to be accessible without taking down the wall.

yes it had a filter. smelled bad and didnt look very clean. I just finished taking the whole thing out. we have always just used the inline filters on our freshwater hose. the wife fills up a Britta type pitcher and we use that. reconnected hot line directly to kitchen faucet for now.
