Water Heater Rod

I didn't replace my water heater rod when I should have and now the darn thing is rusted and stuck. Anyone have any ideas on getting it out? I tried a rust removal, no go.
Thanks in advance.

It's called a sacrificial anode. Try some pin point heat from a small oxy / acet torch at one area of the thread. It may melt some styrofoam but that's okay, and then quickly wind it out ( maybe use two people). Make sure you don't set the place on fire.
Cheers

Spray this on it and let it set a day or to.

And this is why I remove mine every fall after camping season. It drains tank faster and allows me to inspect anode.

That rod is the tank drain . Someone should have told you to drain it at least once a year? How did you winteize the tank without draining it ???

Old boiler trick

This may sound funny but try to tighten it just a little this sometimes will break it loose and then can be removed an old boiler technician told me this trick and it works
