Water loss

Question: While towing our 5th wheel, we have noticed (or been told by drivers who pass by us) that we are losing water when going around right hand turns. No water is lost on left hand turns. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, how did you fix it? It is not a leak as it is coming out of the water air vent.

The tank must be full to the very top, and it's probably sloshing out the vent pipe.

Does it make sense to lose probably 5 to 10 gallons of your water supply? And is there any way to prevent it?

That sounds like a lot to lose. How did you come up with that amount?

Two reasons: 1) it is so much that people passing us on the highway are holding up signs telling us we are leaking fluid and 2) our light panel goes from full to 2/3.

You might have to take the membrane down in the back and have a look up in there and see if you can spot the problem. The water tank is right there along with the fill tube, vent tube, and the line going to the water pump, plus if I remember right. the drain line is there also.

That sure sounds like a lot of water to be coming out of the vent. How old is the camper and could it be a warranty issue if you need to remove the membrane to access the fresh water tank? Good luck and let us know once the mystery is solved.

Camper is brand new. Will revisit dealer and service center for further guidance.

Here is a picture of the tank from my trailer. It's out sitting on the floor on end.

The hole on the left is the p/u to the pump, and the one on the right with the fitting is the drain. The other fittings/outlets on the bottom side of the picture is the fill and the vent.
I'm guessing your tank is the same.

We have the same issue. We usually fill the left side access tank when it's angled down towards the curbside. If I fill it full, it starts to leak when traveling at level.
Does your vent hose have a screen on it. If it's missing, it allows more water to flow out. My tank vent location is also on the side of the tank, near the top, but not on top, and the design helps to promote the leak.
I actually used a plastic hollow wall anchor with silicone to partially "plug" the vent.
There smaller holes in the anchor, not allowing water to flow so easily and I'm careful to fill much slower to not allow it to develop air pockets.

Yes, don't travel with a full tank, wait til you arrive at your destination to top off the tank.
