My WFCO converter shows normal 13.5 VDC with no load, but them drops to about 7 VDC when I hook it in to the fuse strip, battery leads, etc. Is the unit bad?
Thanks

Bad cells in battery will cause voltage to drop under load.

Thanks. I had that problem too and replaced the two batteries (one had dead shorted cells). My RV store suggested that since my PP was permanently placed on a site and plugged in, only one battery was needed.

I am going to check the "new" battery.

But this problem persists when the battery is disconnected.

I am going to check the WFCO under load.

It may that your converter either needs a battery to operate properly or the output board is smoked. If you've been running converter with bad batteries, the load on it could be enough to burn out the scr/diodes on the output board. Before you try loading the converter, connect a new battery to it and monitor the voltage. If the voltage holds at 13.5 or better than there isn't really anything wrong with it. If the voltage drops to 12.6 or lower then you may have shorted scrs or diodes on your converter output board. If that is the case then you're probably looking at replacing your converter.
