Here's another way to see if the wire hooked to pos or neg battery terminal- IF you have an electrical tester- specifically an ohm meter( and you should if you're going to rv-) even a dummy like me can use one... an ohm check from the wire to ground will read very little resistance, commonly called continuity, if the wire hooks up to the battery ground. However, there will be high resistance if the wire goes to the hot side, or B+ side of the battery. Here's the reason- a load on the wire causes high resistance, while a ground wire doesn't , unless it's corroded.

exactly and basic electricity. Not sure of black and white stripe. On my Z-1 red is negative off my battery.

The internet has all the code and color explanations.

My camper has a wire like that also. I just used a wire (zip) tie to hold it to the positive cable so I know where it belongs.

If your unit is prewired for solar, that is the wire that is connected to battety + for the solar charger. I have one also and traced it yo the solar plug on the fron cap.
