What rigid caulk is used to seal holes in underbelly around pipes?

Hello to all. I am relocating my stabilizer switches on trailer skirt to another “safer” & drier location? This will involve running a wire through the trailer’s soft underbelly. My question is, what does Crossroads use to “caulk” around pipes and such in the trailer underbelly, which hardens to a rock hard consistency when dry. I am not sure what exactly to use there, I really don’t want to use silicone caulk. Anyone?

You might be better to use a strong tape, maybe Gorilla or something even stronger like Eternabond. Just a thought. Also found this stuff. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00BJ5SPO8/...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Thanks for the reply. I only wanted to seal a small hole I made in underbelly to “push” a wire thru. Made hole smaller than cable diameter, so it is already a nice tight fit going through underbelly, so my only concern is to seal around the wire edge to prevent water from penetrating. I called an RV dealer parts & service to ask if they knew anything about it....they knew what I was talking about but had no clue as to where to get any! I could try contacting Crossroads. I guess I’ll just use black silicone. I am aware of that tape you mentioned, but in my case its kind of overkill for such a small area I am trying to cover. But thanks again for responding, appreciate it.

If you are trying seal an area from water penetration, then in my opinion there is no such thing as over kill.
I would clean the area after squirting a little silicone in the hole and place a strip of gorilla tape over it and a length of the wire leading to it. Then hit it lightly with a hair dryer.

Just had some unexpected surgery to our campers underbelly and the mobile tech used Gorilla waterproof patch and seal tape. As Lloyd said he went over it with a heat gun on its lowest setting. Said if i ever needed access to that area again it would have to be cut as it would not pull off. I now carry that Gorilla tape and a roll of the Eterna bond just for any emergency.

Thumbs up Definitely will invest in roll of eternabond & gorilla tape!

All excellent advice, thanks. It doesn’t hurt to be be extra cautious when it comes to water penetration from underbelly. Will definitely have to invest in a roll of eternabond & gorilla tape, to use for this issue & any future issues or emergency repairs.

I always carry a role of Eternabond in the Rv just for an Emergency.

I used this tape to seal the hole I cut in the under belly. Works great.

For future reference, I might suggest either Plumbers putty, or epoxy putty that comes in a stick that you knead. Yes, the epoxy will get HARD.

I don't really like to use silicone, and if you are going to seal a hole in something flexible like the coroplast, you really don't want something that hardens.
I like to use ProFlex RV sealant. It stays flexible like silicone, but sticks to anything, and you can seal over it.
I believe the stuff you see sealing around the drain pipes and other items coming through the bottom is the same stuff.

I agree, this tape is great stuff, not just for the underbelly, but also awnings, etc.
