Ken, it works pretty good. I got mine at Camping World. Depending on the level of the ground, you might have to put a 2x6 under it to help raise the rig high enough to get the other wheel off the ground.
Where is the best place to order parts? Dealership can't be the lowest price... and are brakes and bearings standard size? (I doubt it, but thought I'd ask)
Lenny, mine are pretty standard to RV and utility trailers. Some places even carry packaged kits that include 2 or 4 bearings and seals. I can not speak to the newer units but mine were a common size.
Just reading older posts and saw this. Cars have two bearings on the spindle, not one. You need to remove the outer bearing and grease as noted above, but the inside bearing needs to also be greased even though it is press fitted and harder to get to.
Not unless you're talking rear wheel drive. Newer (late 1990s on up) have done personally did a VW,Mazda,Hyundai all have one(blew my mind first time I saw it).
