Hello And Welcome!

I would pull the wheels/drums and pack the bearings by hand. Replace the seals with a good quality DOUDLE LIP seal. Then later if you want to use the EZ-lube fittings to add a little grease between times. Remember to jack up the wheel and spin it as you add a little grease.

No need to add Buddy Bearings you have the EZ-lube axles.

Brakes should be adjusted/inspected each year. I do mine when i De-Winterize.

I wouldn’t depend on the EZ-lube grease fittings. I use to use them and they failed blowing out the rear seal getting all over the brakes. What a mess. I had to replace the seals and bearings and new brake assembly’s. Actually the brake assembly’s were cheaper to purchase the whole assembly then to purchase brakes. Do as Dagst1 said and repack by hand. I’ll never use the EZ-lube fittings again. Through trailer the entire brake assembly’s were $40.95 each.

I gave up using the ez-lub zirks. No matter how many times I tried, they always dislodged the rear seals. (Yes, I jack it up and spin the wheels as I lub). Just curious, I pulled two of the 4 wheels after lub and both had leaked past the seals. Pulled the other two, one was good, the other had dripped a little on the brake magnet. Cleaned it up and tried a couple more times and vowed to never do it again.

Wow, those are only $41. Mine ae $135 each. p.n. 23-458 - I'll have to investigate further to see what the difference is. Replacement shoes for mine are $65.
- Oh, mine are self adjusting, that little cable to self adjust must be VERY expensive!

I have used the EZ Lube fittings to add a little grease thru the year and have never had any problems. But i use double lip seals. But every axle is a little different. I always hand pack when i de-winterize that way the bearings and brakes get a through inspection.

Thanks for the photo. I'm writing that on the back of my hand for future reference. Way better price. On eTrailer I loaded my trailer year/model and it only lets me view things that come with my trailer. Spent over an hour and I can't figure out how to disable that feature.
thanks again.

I just upgraded my Cruiser Aire to self-adjusting brakes from RVUPGRADES.com the whole brake assembly was only $49 a wheel Husky brand brakes. Check there for pricing as was best pricing out there

I received a private message asking if there was a way to check if grease had leaked without pulling the drum. Here's a (not very good) photo I took when I discovered grease on the magnet. At the time of the photo I wasn't sure how the grease got there. But eventually I noticed the grease had oozed past the rear seal of drum and you can see it on the axle spindle above the magnet. As you drive and things warm up the grease thins a little and the drip occurs.

Unfortunately, you have to pull the brake drum to check and see if this has happened and if you're going to pull the drum you might as well pack the bearings and check the brakes and spindle condition.

@PapaT, $143 doesn’t seem too bad. I just looked at eTrailer and they’re $388 a pair for my 2013 ST32FR.

Tell me about it.... It’s the little things like that I always find out AFTER I purchase a vehicle. I’m sure there’s models with more expensive brakes, but still....

Have you price the non adjustable brake assembly’s. Their not that hard to self adjust. I prefer them myself because I’m old school and don’t trust the self adjusting brakes. However, that’s just me and my quirky ways.

I feel the same way about it as Ted.
If you back up very much and set the brakes hard, I think eventually your trailer brakes might be getting a little tighter than I like them.

Bass: go to Google and type in lci1.com, page down to support column at the bottom. Click on support documentation. Lippert has tons of info on their site. Manuals, maintenance documentation, videos and technical info you can read or download. Poke around their site there is a lot of helpful info there.
