Hi all,

We've recently purchased a 2007 Sunset Trail 23CK and the wheel well trim pieces are cracked in a couple of places. They originate mainly around the screw holes. I want to try and repair them to stop them fromspreadingand foraesthetics. Has anyone tried this and if so what did you use? I'm thinking just a 2 part plasticepoxy applied from the back side.

Thoughts?

jayace, I believe I would head in the same direction. Just make sure it is a plastic specific two part epoxy.

I think I'd add a little fiberglass over the crack on the inside and then epoxy.

My 2007 TT is doing the same thing and I think the reason they are breaking is no support at the bottom of the skirt. When I stopped for fuel one day it was very windy and I noticed a lot of movement on the skirt screws. I believe that a couple of brackets on the back side would keep it from moving. Suggest you go and tug around lightly on the bottom of your skirt and see if you get the same thing.

Is it replaceable part? Can you order it from Cross Roads?
On my old unit I found some universal replaceable units that were very reasonable.

Just a thought.

Mine are the same, very little support. They move around quite a bit. Maybe I'll see if there is some sort of bracket I can put in to strengthen them a bit.

From what I understand from the dealer I bought it at the parts are around $200 a piece. Probably not worth it for the couple of small cracks they have and given they serve no real purpose other thanaesthetics. I guess if they break completely I'll have to look at that option.

Someone stated sometime ago that shipping was more then the parts...... Mine broke only around 1 screw and a little larger white washer fixed the problem

I called a local Crossroads dealer to get an actual price and depending on the size I need it's ether $42 or $54 per side. Much cheaper than I was told from the place I bought it. The kicker is that it will probably cost me $80-90 in shipping. Like Robbie said, the shipping is more than the parts.

Anyone driving from Topeka to Calgary any time soon?

Just a follow up on this. I did the repair with 2 part epoxy and embedded somefibreglassmesh and it worked well. I ended up putting a small patch on every screw hole to prevent any others from cracking in the future. So far so good and definitely added some rigidity to the panels themselves.
