You might be right Old Farmer with the 560. When we talked to Garmin they said if would be listed as RV/Truck or Truck/RV and would have several new features. Guess I'll just wait and see.
Certainly don't like my 1460T when towing with the RV. Miss that Truck or Bus setting.

Since we tow a TT and not a 5er, heights aren't as critical for us. We use an older nuvi 200. (no longer made). Our new one will probably be the nuvi 1300LM. It's on sale this week at Best Buy for $139.99. Has street names and lifetime map updates.

Worth considering. My 0.02

I started using gps on my Droid x cell....It is Goggle Nav and it works great!! It even has a cool street view feature, Also when you type in your destination it will show you a overview of the different routs available.

WOW, That's way to much for me. I'll wait for something much cheaper.
Maybe if you type in gold and it finds it, you could help pay for it.

I've been thinking about that one. But I'm going to wait and see if this new RV/Truck one is coming out sometime this spring or early summer. No hurry.

When jjriffel talked to Garmin (they live just a few miles from their) they said it would be called RV something, but maybe you're right. If thats the case I will wait for the price to drop before looking at one.
If Diesel keeps going up we won't be traveling across country this summer anyway.

Dezl 560MLT is over $500 and is available through Garmin's web site.

I have a 1490MLT and a subscription to www.lowclearances.com. Their database is loaded into the 1490 and gives me similar information as to height restrictions as does the $500 Dezl.

Art, that looks like a good program. Only $10. that is a good price. What do they charge for map updates, and how often can you get them?

John:
Take a look at this one. With the program Art has this might do the trick.

Thanks Lloyd,

I'll take a look at one of these. I would like to have a new one with the older setting for truck or bus to keep me off the back streets and downtown areas. I need to check this out.

Thanks again,

Once you pay the initial $10 it is good for one year's worth of updates. Yesterday I got an email from them informing me of a new update. It coincided with Garmin informing me that a new map update was released for our two Garmin GPS units..C340 and 1490LMT.

I just have to bring this old thread up again.
Has anyone used or have any experiences with "voice recognition" on one of these things?

I use the voice commands on my Garmin 3790T quite a lot and like it. The onlyirritatingthing about it is sometimes it will go into voice commands when I didn't ask it to. I also sometimes have to almost yell for it to respond, sort of like my DW ;-) Still I like it. I also like all the POI's I have loaded into it, nice unit! Jeanine, my GPS, seems to get me where I need to go.

Kenny, how is the speaker on your Garmin 3790T? I need lots of volume.

Frank, I can't find a Magellan 1065, is that the right model #?

Thank you. I will check it out. How is the volume on the speaker? I need lots of it.
My daughter, bless her heart, found out I was interested in getting a GPS. So she bought one from a co worker for me. It's a used tom tom XL. I would never say anything to her---but it is a piece of crap!!!!! I have tried it numerous times and he's lost most of the time. Can't even find my place. So needless to say, it would be hard to have much confidence in him.
But, like Barb said---it's the thought that counts.

The speaker volume on the Garmin 3790T is pretty good. I don't have mine turned up very loud but it does have lots of volume adjustment. "Jeanine" speaks quite clearly and in a tone that I can easily hear, your experience may vary ;-) Good luck with your choice.
