Why no ladder???

Can anyone tell me why the Sunset Trail Reserve does not have a ladder. Not that I'm planning on having a barn dance on my roof but it would be nice to remove leaves or branches from the slides before closing.

Some have stated it's because it's not a walkable roof.

ladder

I was told by CR it is not a walkable roof. If you go on it stay on the beams.

As some of the others have replied, no ladder, then it is not a walkable roof. You can work up there carefully but you do have to watch where you put your weight. Things are pretty "spongy" if you get off those beams.

the roof is only 3/16" luann. not even 1/4" plywood...don't stand on it unless you are on the rafters....take off one vent cover inside or the inside skylight cover and you will see how flimsey it is.

Literature says roof decking is 3/8 in plywood.

Thanks for the replies I figured there had to be a reason. Guess that's how they keep the weight down. I'll get a folding ladder and keep it in the cargo bay.

I have a ladder on my 2013 reserve 32rl butt it is not a walkable roof, I was very surprised when I fixed my skylight to find luann it is a very soft roof. the literature shows it to be 3/8 plywood it is not! the literature also shows the sub floor runs out to the wall but it does not it stops at frame just isolation and clothe the walls set on the out riggers welded to the frame.

You might want to double check that, generally the aluminum floor joists run parallel with the main frame and since they are on 16 inch centers, there is one joist at the wall and the next one is inside the frame. That does mean that directly above the frame, there is no floor joist, just the Darco type underbelly fabric, insulation and then the plywood subfloor. I think that is what you are observing.

If the sub floor stopped at the frame, then the top of the outriggers would need to be about 2 inches higher than the top of the frame, otherwise the floor would not be flat the entire width.

In truth, the floor is not attached directly to the frame and makes almost no contact with the frame. Instead the floor is only bolted to the outriggers and then the walls attach to the floor with straps around the perimeter. These attachment points are hidden by the exterior lower skirting panels. There is a second fabric layer attached to the bottom of the frame, but it just encloses the tanks and other items and has absolutely nothing to do with the sub floor.

I was going with what I was told by the dealer that fixed my steps after the front two bolts broke out of the little support frame, I weigh 180 I was told that they replace these all the time so now I use a step support all of the time. Thank you for clarifying that for me I appreciate the knowledge.

I have to agree with Wayne for exactly the reason he stated. I have replaced my vents and I will say while I did not measure the plywood, it is way closer to 3/16" or 1/4" then 3/8"!
