Winterizing

Hi everyone. We are new to camping. We have a 2010 Zinger 32QB and towing with an 03 Ram 1500. My question is this: Does anyone use a dehumidifier during winter storage? If so what brand etc? Also on an unrelated subject, Slideout supports yes or no? Thanks to all and looking forward to many years of enjoyment.

Hope your enjoying your new trailer. Zinger is a great product from CR. If the camper is in your yard and you wish to use a dehumidifier you can. A lot of us put in DAMP-RID or similar air-drying chemicals into the trailer. Some perscribe to leaving the vents open - I close mine. Winter is one of the more humid times around here, especially during a snow storm when the air requires full saturation to start snowing. I have a LG dehumidifier, been going strong for 5 yeears now in my basement.



Do not use slide supports, they are not needed unless you have blocked the frame and are setup on a seasonal site.

I live in an area with alot of snow after I get all done winterizing I crack open every drawer and cupboard, my toilet is in a seperate room, I open the stool room door and I open the ceiling vent in the bathroom, I do have all the roof vents covered, I leave the door propped open and the vent stays open all winter, I have never had a moisture problem and never had any snow inside,...never had any moisture problems

Can you find the de-humidifiers at local stores or online only? I'm in Clarksville, TN and we have already had issues this fall with condensation on the windows and around the walls on the slide out and some in the master bedroom. Whether we leave a couple windows cracked or not seems to not make a difference.

I was able to get several pounds of Air Dryer Dessicant. I boughtthree pairs of cheap cotton work gloves and filled them with the dessicant pellets and tie-wrapped them closed. I laid the dessicant filled gloves in different areas in the trailer. This is the first time that I've used this method so I'm not sure how well this will work but it ought have some affect.

there is no need to use a de-humidifer, if you have covers over your ceiling vents, just leave a vent open, I have covers over all my vents and I leave the bathroom vent open all year, and I do live where there is alot of snow, just leave the vent open and open all the cupboard and closet doors and it will equalie the pressure and the humidity, I have done this for years and it works great, never had a condensation problem..
