Decision time

Hi all, been lurking and decided to join. My wife and I are empty nesters looking to get back into camping after a 15 year absence. Have been looking at tt's for over a year and are considering 2 options, the sunset trail 250rb and the sunset trail reserve 26rb.

The 250rb seems to have an awfully small grey tank at 26 gallons, the 26rb has an 80 gallon grey tank but it also has a slide under the awning which I'm not crazy about, all other differences I can live with.

So I'm looking for opinions on both issues, is a 26 gallon grey tank really a pain? Is a slide under the awning awkward for seating?

I have an ST25RB. I love it. It is a 2013 and got a good deal. Was told they were changing the floor plan to 2 slides on the 14 model. I certainly don't want or need anything longer, but would certainly entertain/like the little extra room you get with the 26RB.

If you plan on dry camping for more than 1 or 2 nights, the smaller grey tank will be noticeably difficult. With planning it can be done. My awning is over our slide and it doesn't really affect us, we just sit where there is shade. Having 2 opposing slides really opens the interior up.

Welcome to the forum.

An 80 gallon grey (gray) tank? That seems like a typo. I also have a 25rb and it takes me a week to fill my grey tank. I do not shower in trailer when not hooked up to sewer, unless it is necessary
Personally do not like any trailer with a slide that takes up space under awning.

Nope, 80 gallon grey isn't a typo...check the manufacturers site. The 26rb has bigger tires as well to help handle the added cargo capacity.

Does the 250rb only have one grey tank? Alot of rigs have two grey tanks.
That's probably where they're getting 80 gals. on the 26rb.
If you like the 250rb, maybe do a little more checking on there grey water capacity and see if there is two tanks.

26 gals. isn't much.

One tank on the 250 unless brochures and multiple websites are all wrong.

Just looked and it does say 80 gals. Must be 2 tanks. Also on new resreves , they are going with d rated tires . my 13 25reserve only has c rated, and I am real close to max weight on tires.

So far your responses are confirming that 26 gallons is tiny, plus I get solid surface tops, power stab jacks, fireplace, etc. on the reserve

Like I sad earlier, 26 gals is ok. as long as you do not waste water. and the solid counter tops...I would rather have regular tops. they scratch easily and add weight.

We have a 2014 ST28BH Reserve and we LOVE it! Some of the things that we like about it compared to the Super Lite include the residential queen 60x80 bed (this is HUGE when the bed is blocked in by the center media wall), the fireplace (a feature we laughed about but do enjoy), the Corian counter tops, center island (roomy kitchen), opposing slides (makes it super roomy in there), and the tons more storage you get in the kitchen area! The front gel cap is very nice too...and I'm sure there are lots of differences I'm forgetting about.

I was very hesitant about losing the awning space with the kitchen slide out. It was something I truly did not want! But as it turns out, it's not a big deal at all. It's a shallow slide and the awning is huge!

If weight or price are not huge concerns (obvious differences there), then my vote is for the Reserve.

The 80 gal. grey tank is more than likely 2 - 40 gal. tanks. That is how my SF270BH is configured.

Then it's a no brainer.

Just checked the size of my 25rb and it is 40 gal. grey tank, so 26 gal would be a bit small, I guess.

I thought that was small. If not mistaken, all three are 40 gal. We have the same TT.

Our daughter bought a SS trailer last year. One of the contributing factors, besides the floor plan, was the fact that it has two 40 gallon grey tanks. You don't know what a pain a smaller tank is until you live with one. We also have the same grey tank sizes and really like it.

The 2013 25rb was a "reserve" model, from 2014 on it became an ultralight thus the smaller tanks and lower dry weight.

I have the ST26RB. The grey tanks are two 40gal tanks. One for the kitchen sink and one for the bathroom sink and shower.
