First time camper owners

Hello from Ohio. My wife and kids decided that they wanted to join me (tent) camping this summer. While we've had a great time camping, we've also learned that we'd like to move up to a camper. We already own a 2014 Ram 1500 (Hemi, tow package, etc...) so a TT seemed to best suit out needs/wants. We have visited multiple dealerships, toured many campers and burnt up HOURS doing online research. We ended up purchasing a 2015 Rezerve RTZ28BH. We are scheduled to pick it up on Tuesday and are very excited. This is our first camper and hope to enjoy many trips with it.

Great forum you have here with lots of valuable information. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum and best of luck with your new Reserve. Make sure you do a thorough walk through when you pick up your camper. Take notes and ever video the walk through. Especially check on winterizing, how to turn the valves on your hot water heater for the winter and summer, where they are located, and if you have a winterizing kit, where that is located, just to name a few.

Here is a link to a checklist. http://www.rvlifestyle.net/id20.html

Welcome!!
Like Mark stated make sure you do a good PDI. We have heard many tales of sorrow here from members that didn't and when they got home they started seeing problems that were missed during the PDI.
Remember, you are the one spending the money, make them deliver until you are satisfied.
Here is another link for a PDI.

I suggest you print one of these out and take it with you when you go to pick up your new trailer, and stick to it.
Good luck, and congratulations!!

Welcome aboard! I hope you guys have many happy years of camping with it, however I echo what the others have said about making sure you do a thorough PDI. By taking your time with it and making them fix any problems you find before you take delivery, you will save yourself mountains of headaches. They can fix things on the spot that you might wait weeks to get fixed after it is yours.

Congrats. What Lloyd and Mark said. When I did mine we did not cover winterizing. Fortunately it was easy. Be sure to cover that.

Welcome to the forum and cogratulations on the new Rezerve. Take advantage of the link Lloyd posted for you. Buying an RV is NOT the same as buying a car. RV manufacturer does NOT have control over the dealer the same as a car manufacturer does.

Not only do the walk through, but do several shake out trips even if they are only a few days in length. We found several different issues on the first two trips and you get the practice of setting it up and taking it down. We went every other weekend for 7 weeks. Looking forward to getting out for a longer stay, but we had a blast ever time.

Welcome to the forum. In addition to the aforementioned advice on the PDI, check the doors and windows to make sure they operate properly. When we took possession of our trailer, we did not do this and did not find out till later that our bedroom door would not close at all!

You will probably find lots of issues as time goes on, this seems to be normal. We found that dealers don't always fix the problems, and sometimes they have trouble getting the parts or the wrong parts come in. If you plan to attend the rally in Indiana next summer, then that is a good time to get all your issues addressed. You make an appointment with the Customer Service Center and they do a great job.

Greetings fellow Buckeye,

Welcome to the forum. All good advice here. Make sure you do your 6 month checkup before you store for the winter. We had an issue with our cap not sealed from the factory is two locations and it grew into a big issue. Fortunately, we were able to take it directly to Topeka to be repaired under warranty.

Well, we got her home today and are very pleased so far. We have a site reserved at Jellystone Park next weekend and can't wait to get there.

Have fun! Camping is a blast! We enjoyed it with our kids when they were young and now it is a huge part of our retirement.

Enjoy!

We always had good times at the Jellystones when the boys were little.
