Question Greetings from North Texas.

Greetings from North Texas.

We just took possession of our new Cruiser Aire CR28RD yesterday (May 24) and now the wife is going to be busy decorating it before our initial test run. We're leaving next Tuesday for three days, just to test things out before we plan a longer trip.

We're new to the Cruiser family, having had Forest River products for our last four RVs.

I'm looking forward to learning and sharing through this forum.

Greetings fellow Cruiser Aire Owner. I've had mine since 2013, I know it has to have over 100k plus miles on it.

Were down in Mission TX, some storms, but we can use the rain here. Getting ready to head back to SW Missouri, hoping to dodge the storms on the way up.
The camper has been pretty good so far, I did replace the roof and back wall two years ago. Among other things, slide motors and normal wear and tear parts. My large slide was built out of square and caused a lot of stress on the slide mechanism.

Welcome to the forum!

Is that a short bed truck? If so, do you mind if I ask what kind of hitch you're using to avoid the trailer contacting the cab? I'm in a travel trailer now but 5th-wheel might be in the cards down the road.

I'm looking at a 5th wheel now. Currenty have TT. Two experienced fivers recommend a Gen-Y gooseneck hitch for my short bed Ram 2500. I've researched them and see many Pros over a small Con.

I believe that's a standard bed. I don't think Ford puts the short bed on F-250s.

The F-250s can have 6.5' (short) and 8' (long). I've been shopping a lot lately.

My Ford F250 has a short bed. I use a slider hitch built by Curt.

It is a short (standard) bed and I have a B&W Patriot that is NOT a slider. I've pulled fifth wheels without slider hitches since 2007 and it's never been a problem for me. You just need to be aware of how much you're "bending" and make sure the trailer doesn't come into contact with the cab - I try not to get myself in a bind. I don't mean to sound smug or cocky, but honestly, it's a matter of common sense and caution.

We've had LOTS of rain lately, but no damage thankfully. We've spent the past three days camping at Lake Mineral Wells State Park (shakeout trip) and it rained very hard most every night.
