Hailing from Mulvane, KS

Today I bought my first RV, it is a 2013 CrossRoads Z1 218TD toy hauler.

Looking to have many fun Family and ATV trips with it. Any advise would be appreciated.

I am pulling it with a 2011 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with 5.7 Hemi which has factory tow brake. I have a Husky Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitch Package rated at 1,200 lbs.

I towed it back from the dealer and my gas mileage was beyond horrible!!!!!! Anywhere from 6-9 mpg doing anywhere from 55 to 70. For now it seems that my tow brake is working good at 4.5.

Does anyone know if it is set up for solar. I also did not get a users manual with it, where do I get one?

Thanks alot, forums have always been a great source of help!

Hello and welcome from your neighbor in Mo.

Your mileage i cant say what it should be but with my 5th wheel i gross very close to 18000 lbs and i get 7.6 to 8 constantly. Not good but thats what it does.

The owners manual is very generic not like your trucks. It shows basic operation such as setting up level and touches on some other things. For more specific information on the appliances you can look them up on line and down load a manual.

If you have questions just askSomeone on here has been there done that .

Just remember the reason you bought it and ENJOY!!

For your reference, just did a 1500 mile trip with my 5.3L 4.10 axle Chevy short box 4WD regular cab towing my 23 footer that is about 6500 lbs. loaded for travel. Averaged 9.5 mph while towing through the terrain of NY, VT, NH, ME, MA and back to NY. Lots of mountain travel in VT, and NH. Dodges and my significant others jeep are known for about the worst mileage on the planet for regular driving and towing. This has been an issue for them back into the 80's where my experience began.

Lots of information missing on your tow vehicle like gear ratio over size tires. Don’t have much experience with the 1500 Ram But my Tundra was about 9mpg my 2500 Ram with the 6.7 Cummins is quite a bit better but the reason I asked gears is my BIL has the 5.7 in a 2007 2500 and he pulls a 28ft with a slide and gets around 12mpg lower gear not working as hard maybe, he’s running 4:11’s. Make sure you are in tow/haul and maybe lock it out of high gear and let it rev a little more.
