Hello from Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, Canada

Hello folks!

I'm Dominic, 31, happy father of our new 3 months old baby named Simone. My girlfriend and me just bought a 2015 SF270BH Sunset Trail 5th wheel.

We got it used from a dealer. We had a good deal on. The original owner bought it in Sept. 2015 and after 2-3 weeks, it start to leak in the joint from the roof and the front of the trailer. Crossroad took it back, refurbished the whole front and send it back to the owner, who decide to go with an other brand finally. We save more than 14k$ on. It's a kind of luck/risk buy.

After I red few horrible stories and reviews, we decide to go with. I'm still not sure if it's a good move or not, but as soon i'm back from work (Working in the canadian arctic) I'll go with a good inspection and do some reading like the PDI thread we have on this site.

We moved from a hybrid Starcraft TravelStar 19ck 2007 that we loved so much to this big 5th wheel. That's my 1st experience with 5th wheel, I hope I'll like it!

Cheers!

My best advice to you is to check the caulking all over the trailer, top to bottom, front to back twice a year. Then add additional caulking where needed. Water intrusion is an RVès worst enemy.

Congratulations on your purchase and good luck with it!

Congratulations first for the new baby and then the trailer.
Check out Eternabond tape. A good choice for front and rear cap seams.
Welcome lots of great info and friendly folks.

Welcome to the forum. I like the Eternabond solution for seams.

Welcome to the forum. I have a 2014 SF270BH. I love mine. After reading the stories here on the forum, I ran a strip of Eternabond along the seam between the roof and the front cap, a little preventative maintenance.

Hello / Salut from Quebec city,

I have the same 5W bought brand new and till now no problem. I check the roof each year to be sure there is no leak.

Have a good day.

Thank guys for your advice and welcome.

Question for DavisK. Even if you putted Eternabond tape on between the roof and the front cap as a preventive measure, this couldn't be an issue for preventive inspection and possible trouble that you don't see? I didn't work before with Eternabond.

I'll buy a roll of that Eternabond for sure and keep it in the trailer.

Thieryy: Any extra advise for "Quebec winter storage"? You know what I mean.

For storage, check with your local fair board. There are often large buildings at fair grounds that are used for RV storage in the winter.

Hello,

I simply store it away from the snow and cold temperature in a warehouse.

I don't understand what you are asking here.
