I have a 2018 CrossRoads Sunset Trail. I just recently found this group in my attempt to find out what ‘Extreme Weather Package’ actually means. The RV has a sticker that states it has it. I live full-time in the RV. I just recently relocated from Texas to Kansas. Everyone here is telling me I need to skirt the RV for the winter. I bought a heated hose, but am finding RV skirting out of my price range and installation expertise. What’s your opinions on skirting or not? The last quote I received was $2,600 including installation but booked until Feb 2021. ��

What is the average winter temperature in Kansas? That will determine if you want to close it in. A cheaper way is to put hay bales under instead.

I don't think I would use hay or straw either one. In my opinion that would make a mouse motel for sure.


You might try and locate a local handy man in the area, and see about skirting it with 2in. rigid Styrofoam. Maybe that would be something you could tackle yourself.

Do not use hay bales!!
That is like welcome mat for all sorts of unwelcome critters to join you for the winter. Not to mention once they're wet the inside underneath the rv will be a huge penecillin factory.
The 2" rigid foam would most likely be your best cheapest alternative.

20-30 degrees, but it is the wind that causes most of the issues.

First thought is what will the rv park allow? Also are there other campers that are permanent? What do they have for skirting?

Lowes and Home Depot both sell mobile home skirting. It is not too hard to install as it is vinyl and you just need common tools. Just a thought

Even if you used some tarps and some cinder blocks as weights, it’s better then nothing. But 2ft x 8ft x 2” rigid styrofoam panels would best.

I agree with the rigid foam, backed by cheap plywood. I bet there's a few You tube videos on the subject.. you can do it in a day, and it will save you more than the cost of materials in a short time.
The Extreme Weather Package will only help a little. Your situation requires much more.
