Hello to all,
My wife and I bought a 2013 Sunset Trail 30RK late last summer, and are working hard to learn how to take care of it. We've taken it on a couple of short trips last fall to get used to trailing it, and we are boldly planning to go out to Yellowstone from Pittsburgh in late spring this year.
Meanwhile, we are watching youtube videos to learn what not to do, and then I came upon this forum. We will be looking through past threads to see what we can learn. Right now I'm looking into battery replacement. I'd like to do Lithium, but that's too expensive at this point. So I'll be looking to check out threads on recommended battery solutions.

Welcome to the forum. I’m in the same boat of wanting lithium but not being able to cough up the $900 each just yet. One thing you might consider are AGM batteries. Of course they’re much heavier and not nearly as good as lithium but way better than lead acid. That’s what I did initially and they have worked VERY well. There’s tons of threads on this forum on the topic.

Thanks for the input. I've been looking at AGM batteries and doing some research on them. I appreciate your feedback. That may be the way to go. They are a bit more expensive than traditional lead-acid, but are maintenance free for the most part and that's important to me.

We do a fair amount of dry camping, and have a lake lot, currently with no electricity.
Two seasons ago, I upgraded to 2) 6 volt GC2 golf cart type batteries. They are rated at 105aH each, in series gives me 210aH. That is about triple what a typical stock house battery is.
They are available from Costco at under $100 each.
I even got a nice battery box that fits like it is made for the original space behind the LP tanks.
I can get three days use with no backup, with the furnace coming on a few times during the night. I sometimes leave the camper at the lot with only the refrigerator and other parasitic draws running, and have gone 5 days with batteries discharged to 65%.I don't discharge past 50%.
I have added a 200 watt solar suitcase, and can now go as long as needed, if i can get full sun for several (6 or 8) hours.
Otherwise, I run my generator a few hours to keep them charged if needed.
