New St270BH Owners from MD

Just bought a 2014 Sunset Trail 270BH yesterday including a Reese W/D hitch for my truck and a brake controller.

My wife and I have no previous RV experience, so this is going to be a learning experience. Currently we are both retired and are really looking forward to treveling.

We are scheduled to pick-up our trailer along with getting the W/D and brake controller work completed on my truck later this coming week. After that, we plan to go and camp in Williamsburg, Va for a couple days as we begin our adventure.

This is a great site and I've already started downloading the checklists, which I plan on using since we are basically "know nothing" rookies. Looking forward to learning from others on this site.

Welcome, if you have any questions post them up and I am sure we will do our best to answer them. In the meantime, keep reading the forum. Everything you ever wanted to know about RVing is probably in here somewhere

Hello and welcome. Congrats on the new sunset trail. Videotape your pdi. Ask lots of questions. If it turns on or off, opens or closes, etc make them demo it and you return the demo. Practice hooking and unhooking your trailer. We are here for any questions, we were all new sometime (that was me in 2011).

Also check out both the mason Dixon group rally in the fall and the northeast crossroads rally in the spring.

Congrats on the new purchase! We are getting our new 290BH in April so I can't offer much help. I will tell you not to let the PDI get rushed. Take all the time you need make sure you understand everything and try things multiple times. Another owner told me buying your first trailer is like buying a car without ever driving one before.

Enjoy your first season!

Welcome, and congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful experience with your new RV. I will echo what was suggested above about taking your time with the PDI, all day if necessary. Good luck and happy camping!

I extend the same warm welcome everyone else gave to us just a couple weeks ago. We too are brand new ST270BH owners and are currently awaiting our new truck to arrive so we can go get it. Like you, we are new to travel trailers too and are nervously anticipating that first trip to try it out and learn by doing. There are a bunch of us new to this particular model it appears. Hopefully we can all stay in touch and share lessons learned. Enjoy and safe travels!!!!!

I think you will definitely like your st270bh. According to the salesman this is one their more popular models. I took mine to Williamsburg, Va a week ago for 4 days and had no problems with the trailer. The only thing I did not like was the new smell which reeks of formaldehyde, but this site has provided me with a quick solution to that. See you at the rally

I'm about to pick up my ST270 as well. This will be my first TT. I'm waiting on winter to end so I don't run the risk of anything freezing on it after I pick it up -- they tell me it's winterized but will no longer be once I pick it up. So it's sitting on the dealer lot. I live in NC, and while it's been 70 on the weekends we are still getting down into the 20s on weeknights. Crazy. Have fun!

We pickup our new ST270BH on April 4th. It seems so far awayt but we're still getting snow and freezing weather so no point bringing the trailer home yet.

Tis the season for people getting new campers. Congrats to everyone and welcome. Remember to do a very good PDI(Pre-Delivery Checklist)Before signing anything.

We are still getting bad weather as well but my wife and I just want it in our driveway so we can start getting it packed and organized. We have already set reservations for 3 different camping trips up to Easter! I am sure we will even stay in it a couple of nights in the driveway! (Yes you could consider us as rednecks lol)

Sorry Nachtmsk should of added the link here you go http://www.angelfire.com/trek/buenavistas/ its under Tom Boles Pre Delivery Checklist, Hope this helps. You may want to send a copy of this to your dealer before you do it so they know what to expect and hopefully they will go thorugh the list before you get there and fix things, but you will still want to take the list along with you and do everything yourself as well. Even though you will want to take your new camper home that day if there is anything at all wrong have them fix before you sign on the line and take her home.
