Smile Newbie Considering Sunset Trail 240 BH or 270Bh

Hi folks,

As a way of introduction, my wife (Kathy) and I are from York, Pa. We have been Camping for the past 13 years in a pop up. We have four kids (15-23) who still like to camp with Mom & Dad , though not as often. We will be buying a Cross Roads 240 bh or a 270 bh within a the year Just wanted to say Hello

Glad to see that you are considering our brand. From what we have seen of the Sunset Trail, it looks great and is on our short list for the next RV.

Welcome abroad. And we are a friendly group willing to help you any way we can. If you have any questions, just ask.

Jean

Thank you for the invite to the rally in May, sounds like it would be fun. I am interviewing dealerships, I visited Beckley's in MD and plan to swing by Fretz RV in the near future.

We recently purchased a ST26RB reserve. We haven't had a chance to use it since we just bought it about a month ago. I think we are really going to like all of the great features. We did spend one night in it and it felt luxurious.

If you are new at trailers , bring a friend that has one and knows how things work .
Good luck and have them show you, with hose hooked up, how the santi flush works . check for leaks under the bath sink where the aerator is located. It will probably leak , as some dealers don't check that part.

hello and welcome. As others have said do a thorough pdi. Video tape your pdi and make sure they show you the winterization/de winterization process. I have the zinger and love it. it has been good to us over the past 2 yrs that we have had it.

We too went from a pop-up to a small travel trailer, then to our new sunset trail. Since we had owned a small travel trailer, we did know how to winterize and do the other things required that we didn't need to do with our pop-up. Since our new trailer is more weight and longer than are other tt, we did add a dual cam sway control and weight distribution system. I think that was a good purchase. When we towed the trailer home from the dealer (about 120 mi), it was a very windy day. I didn't notice any sway and it pulled the same as our smaller trailer through the Kansas Flint Hills.

Welcome to the forum! Four kids...I would definitely go bigger than the 240BH.

We considered the ST290BH before buying another Zinger. Your F250 leaves many options available. I would recommend at least the 270BH...you will like having the added space and seating with the couch. The 270BH or 290QB will give you a little growing room.

I agree. I have the 25RB which we love. But I can't imagine having kids in it for an extended period of time. The dinette actually makes into a nice comfortable bed, but with the couch folded out it is very hard to access the bathroom from the master.

We have the couch/dinette setup like yours and agree with the difficulty of getting to the bathroom. The overhang of the counter top definitely impedes the pathway. This is an example of a design looking good on paper but not practical in the real world. It is something we will double/triple check in our next unit.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck finding the floorplan and dealership that fits your needs best. My only bit of advice would be to buy late in the spring. That way you could get a full season of camping in and still have time on your warranty to have any issues you discover addressed properly.
I also agree with Seabee, come join us at the 2014 Northeast Crossroads rally, if you can.
