Howdy folks!

Out of curiosity, I just looked up when we bought our first camper - it was in May of 2005 when the kids were 13, 12 and 10. We have had some AMAZING years. If anyone happens to be reading this, don't wait until your oldest is 13, head out camping as soon as the kids are old enough to enjoy the outdoors. We have SO MANY great memories of camping with the family: trails hiked, unique meals attempted, rainy days spent playing games under the awning...

Our girls are in college and for all practical intents and purposes, moved away. We are a farming family and our son plans to take over the farm, so he is home, commuting to college, and planning to live in this house for much longer than we will be from here on out.

When we first started camping, we did "spur-of-the-moment" trips when my husband would say in the morning "Hey I can get away from the farm for a few days, lets leave after lunch!". Then as the kids got into high school and college, we started having to plan our camping trips in advance, and the kids got busy even during the summer, so we didn't camp as much.

Now we are adjusting to the reality of "mom and dad need to go camping whenever, and whatever kids can come, and want to come, might join us".

AND our son got himself a used Chevy 2500HD Duramax, crew cab, 8' bed. We can pull a bigger camper now, thanks to him.

Change is the only constant in life, eh?

Anyway, we plan to buy a Zinger in the next couple of days, and I am excited to be a part of this online community! Someone already clued us in on the rallies at Starved Rock and Comlara. We want to try Starved Rock, so will have to look into that one, and we enjoy Comlara occasionally. Mostly we camp at Moraine View and Clinton, and we love Turkey Run (IN), but that takes advance planning.

Hopefully I can throw in my 2 cents worth occasionally, and I know I'll benefit from everyone else's experiences.

Can't wait to get out camping in our new Zinger!

I saw your other post but have not seen those units and didn't comment. However, I can give you a warm welcome to this forum and say congrats on whatever choice you make. Camping has been in our blood since our first rig (full cabover on a Toyota 4-banger back in '74). Yes, that was spooky driving that thing at times! There are a lot of great folks here with lots of experience. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Zinger. Hope you guys have many enjoyable years of camping in it. Sounds like your son is embarking on a very satisfying lifestyle. I know farming is very hard work, but I can also see where it would be very satisfying. We have around 500 acres here, but most of it is timberland. We have a hundred acre field we have leased out to a soybean farmer. I admire him, he's a hard worker but a good guy. Anyway, have fun with the new camper!

We bought our first camper in 09. Our kids never got to go camping with us but we have taken our grandkids every year since then. I glad we can give them the camping experience.

Good luck with your new camper & welcome to the forum

We are the proud new owners of a Zinger 33BH! We pick it up Tuesday!
I'm excited to see how everything fits into it, and very excited to go camping the first time!
