Camping near St. Louis,MO

May have to travel down for work and wondered about bringing the family and camping. Anyone know of good places north? Coming from Chicago..

We stayed in the State Park near St. Louis in 2012. The only problem is you have to fill your tank as there is no water service at the sites. Pretty park, though, and the sites are a good size.

I would also like to mention that the Arch and museum on the waterfront are well worth seeing. See the movie about how the Arch was made first, then go up. It is really good.

E. St. Louis

There is a KOA off of 270 on the Ill. side that we have used a number of times. Easy access to STL. Nice and clean, that might work for you.

Not to far to the SW of St Louis off I44 is Meramec Caverns. It is a neat place. You have the cavern, floating, and zip lines.

I have also stayed at this KOA very nice. Has pool, big bounce pillow and playground if you have kiddos. Just don't get worried when driving to the KOA it looks like your driving into a industrial park, but after your in the park it seems like all other campgrounds. You could also send ricktlm3 a message he is from that area and might know of more places.

We stayed there for 3 nights and I don't recall hearing anything. Our spot was up front by the office next to the bounce pillow. I would have no problem staying there again.

Granite City, Il.

I think its normal noise for a major metro area. The convenience and ease of access to the city offsets this for me.

We had a pop-up when we stayed there and I don't recall any excessive noise (and we were there during the week).

If you have kids, you must visit City Museum. It was pretty cool.

"Bud" has factory tours and a free taste afterwards.
Also a visit to the arch is in order. For a great view of the city and surrounding county from 630 feet up. It is a National Park so bring your pass for a discount. There's the Gas light area that's worth a stop.

Have a great visit.

The Arch of coarse if you haven't been, The Spaghetti Factory is an awesome place to eat, and Fast Eddies has the best burgers, but that is a bar, I also agree with the City Museum the kiddos will have a blast.
