Cosby, TN

Anyone have recommendations for things to do in the East Gatlinburg area? We're going to be in the KOA in Cosby. I can only drink so much Moonshine and hike so many days....We usually like trips to more remote areas but staying in a day drive for our trip this summer. Not fans of the tourist scenes and big crowds, so will only go into Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge a couple days.

Go to the Artist loop and wander the shops, drive to the top of the Smokies, go to Cade's Cove, eat at the Diner in Sevierville, eat at The Mill in Pigeon Forge, check out the shops there, go to the Landing & wander s bit, check out the Aquarium in Gatlinburg. There may be more places but that's what comes to mind. Unfortunately, Gatlinburg downtown has turned into moonshine & t-shirt shops. The good stuff is out on the Artist Loop.

We haven't been up the chair lift in about 50 years (actually 47 to be exact, we were on our honeymoon).

Check out the elk in Cataloochee Valley. About 1 hour 13 minutes from Cosby.

We have stayed at the Gatlinburg East KOA (Smokey Mountain Premire RV) several times and you can not go wrong with Kelly and his crew who run the park. Hands down, our favorite place in the Gatlinburg, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge area. You will be located about 20 minutes from Gatlinburg. Quiet and shady. Take their Adventure Tour and enjoy the several hours of "off-roading" on trails that Kelly and his crew made. You will have a blast! We went to Carver's Orchard & Applehouse Restaurant for breakfast about 4 miles away. Quick service, good price. After you eat, go to their inside fruits and vegetable market. Great variety of each. If you need groceries, you can chose to go to the Food City on the way to Gatlinburg or go back into Newport, Tn. for a Walmart.
Several little antique stores along the route.
