Headed to SanAntonio& Carlsbad/Santa Fe

We are making a month runaway South/southwest. Leaving KC area heading toward Oklahoma City and Austin. Then on to SanAntonio for a week. We need some interesting things to do besides shopping with the wives. What should we 'NOT' miss going to see?? and What should we avoid…

Then headed toward Carlsbad and SanteFe area for a week. What should we 'Not' miss in that area.

Thanks in advance for any help..

Must see the Alamo and do the River Walk while in San Antonio. The Caverns at Carlsbad is the most spectacular cave system I have ever seen and we have been to a number of them. Sante Fe is really nice down town. Very artsy. It has a reputation anymore of being a little "fruity". Wife was born there. We have been a couple times while visiting Albuquerque. Take a drive to Taos while your there. Beautiful country.

It's been 38 years since I was there, but I loved both. I want to go back and see them again.

Riverwalk, Alamo and the mission's. The KOA in San Antonio is not far from any of these sites.
One small peice of advice, if you are heading west to Carlsbad from San Antonio , DO NOT pass up Ft.Stockton without topping of the gas(fuel) tank.it may not look far on the map but you sure dont want to be stranded out there. If you have ant specific questions about San Antonio just let me know. I have worked in the area for over 32 years.

This is very good advice. We drove from Carlsbad to Killeen Tx and it can be very far and in between fuel stops. I don't remember exact route but it can be very desolate out there. At night the critters come out of the woodwork!
