Loaded up for long trip!
All packed and hooked up, starting an extended trip tomorrow. I'll be traveling solo from Georgia to Texas to a music festival until the first weekend in June. Then wife will fly out to join me and we start another 20 day trip farther west to Grand Canyon, Zion, Canyonland, Bryce, etc. Mostly 2 nighters with a 4 nighter near Zion. Total mileage should be around 5000. Won't get back home until the end of June. Hope all goes well. If so, should be a blast.

Trip Out West
Have a great trip. We were at the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater, Waputki ruins, Sedona, Montezuma's Castle, Walnut Creek Canyon, all in AZ, then on up to Bryce and Capitol Reef in Utah. We then traveled back to Kansas through Colorado. Wonderful trip. We logged about 4000 miles.

I retire in July. We leave for my first post-retirement trip July 31. So excited. Going from Kansas to California and all points in between. We will be gone about a month.

Check out my photo album of our trip to the south-west last fall for some ideas of what to see. If you are anywhere near Page, AZ, Antelope Canyon is a must see.

Made it back!
Got back yesterday after 42 days on the road. The first half was at the music festival in Kerrville, Texas, then DW and I headed west from there on the 7th. We visited Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Canyonland, Mesa Verde, and Zion National Parks, and numerous state parks in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Arkansas and Mississippi. Some good, some not so good. F-150 eco-boost did a fine job pulling the camper up some pretty good grades. We logged 5887 miles, used 544 gallons of gasoline and averaged 10.8 mpg overall.
One thing I discovered when dry camping at Grand Canyon was, even though I have a factory tow package, the truck was not supplying 12V to the 7 pin trailer connector. I had to break out the owners manual and "borrow" a relay that went to the rear window defroster and a fuse from something else (forget what that was), in order to get power to top up the camper battery that was running down because we didn't have hook-ups. That adventure is in another thread.
The only sour note is that apparently the front of my CR is beginning to delaminate due to a previous water leak along the top seam where the front meets the roof material. Still keeping an eye on that.

Glad you folks had a great time! Yes, all "tow packages" are not created equal. My truck needed the relay and fuse, too. If you're doing all short trips, and plugging in every night, you would never know if your TV is feeding your TT. Worse, when I was checking the voltage in mine using one of those "ice pick" test lamps, I accidently shorted across two pins in the 7-pin socket, and blue a turn signal fuse! Live and learn!
