Making a trip this summer. Wonder if our rig would be OK at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone or if it is best to stay outside the park. We will be coming in from the east entrance. We will be spending 3-4 days in Yellowstone and then heading to Glacier for 3-4 days.

I have been researching this issue recently
as well. We're planning on an RV trip to Alaska in 2014 and stopping in
Yellowstone and Glacier. By what I have found,Fishing Bridge is made for
larger rigs and has full hookup. But, depending on when you plan on visiting
reservations are a must. They will pack you in like a parking lot, but the way
I see it, the camper will be used for breakfast, dinner and bed.</span><?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

The way I remember it, you should be fine in there. If you have any doubt there are some nice campgrounds on the west side that we have stayed in. (outside the park--west Yellowstone)

Fishing Bridge was closed for upgrades the year wewent and stayed in West Yellowstone (Rustic Wagon RV) easy in and out of the park and drivable to all the areas in the park. I would agree that reservations would be needed and maybe a year in advance depending on the time of year. At Glacier we stayed in Hungry Horse (Mountain Meadows RV). Just a few miles from the West end of the park and easy to get in and park for the buss that goes from west to east. The bus makes a number of stops to get off and on for a walk to a water fall or two.

Fishing bridge is as good base camp. But pack you in pretty tight.
The west entrance has grizzly and some others. We stayed last time at Rocky Mountain at the North entrance. A few more miles each loop but was much happier than inside the park.
Just fyi, the drive in from Cody on the east side is an awesome drive. Will take some time, but very scenic.
If you come in from the northeast, it is really nice over bear tooth pass. We towed our old smaller fiver over it, but was tight. Most recommend not towing over it.
I'm not sure I would tow our 40 foot up and down that mountain.

Bob and Pat...When are you looking at going? We are making the same plans (Yelowstone/Glacier) coming from Wash State. We are looking at around 10 July arrival in Yellowstone +/- a day or two.

Our trip will be in August.

Looks like Mountain Meadows RV will be our stopping place near Glacier. Still deciding on Yellowstone.</span>
