The wife and I are considering a trip to Williamsburg in mid April. The kidswill beon Easter break for a week unless it snows more andthe schools areclosed again.

Anyway, I thought there were some posts on the old forum about campgrounds in the area, but I can't find them so I'll ask again. I see there are a few in the area and was looking for someopinionsabout the campgrounds and also the drive from there to the historic area. I have not been there since 1990 and then I stayed in a hotel.

Chris, We stayed in Williamsburg for a week two years agoand stayed at the only campground that is in the shuttle loop for the city buses. It was a smaller park, but clean (restrooms, store and all). We parked the dually and only took it out once during the week. At the time it only cost us 50 cents each to ride the bus all day. We would get on in the morning and take the shuttle to the main bus station and you can get to all the historic places from there. Buses were clean and the drivers friendly ( a good mix of locals and tourists on the buses). Sure was nice not having to find parking spots and pay for them. I will pull up my records later today and come back with the name.

American Heritage RV park is a very nice, clean campground, located approximately 10 -15 miles from Williamsburg.

We stayed at American Heritage last summer and it was great for us. Centrally located for Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. A Good Sam Park. Would stay there again.

American Heritage is a decent campground, probably one of the better ones in the area. Although, last time we were here one of our friends had their cooler stolen. Actually just emptied, we found the cooler.
