Alaska truck question

Has anyone who has driven to Alaska sustained much damage from stones to the front of their tow vehicle?

We just bought a new truck with a nice chrome grill. There are grill protectors available, but they are quite expensive. We hate to put out a lot of money if it's not needed.

Drove it last year. No issues with stones. No need to travel that close behind anyone that it ever becomes an issue. Not that many places with gravel just keep your distance. No stone damage whatsoever to my vehicle last year.

No, we are planning a trip for next year. We are looking for a truck camper for this trip. We just got a new truck, so this means we can get a decent truck camper. Our old truck had limitations.

Most of us would be interested in hearing about your trip, so perhaps you could post about it either during, after, or both, like Wild Wild West did.

I would be particularly interested in how you managed with smaller accommodations.
