New axle and now home from our trip..Kudos to crew at Camping World of Buffalo!

Hi all,

Just got back from a two week trip out east. Despite have the bearings serviced we had a wheel lock up on the trip out just outside of Buffalo NY. Guy pulled up next to us and let us know we had a wheel smoking. It was dusk and we were literally 3 hours into our 7 hour drive to NY.

The towing company nursed us to the exit on 3 wheels (not exposed hitch because of the pro-pride hitch) and fortunately the camping world was literally a mile off the highway. Bearings we're seized on the axle. Real head-scratcher considering they were serviced less than 500 miles ago.

Boondocked for the first time in the CW parking lot and was standing at the service door the minute they opened.

Kudos to the team there ...we had to get a new axle (thank you extended warranty!) and had us on the road by 7:00 pm that night. The manager authorized overtime for his crew so we didnt have to stay another night and miss our appointments the next day in Boston.

We were out the deductible and the cost to repack the other bearings just to be safe.

We camped at Normandy Farms outside of Boston and Lake George RV resort. Two of the best campgrounds I've every seen, hands down.

That's quite the adventure. You got a new axle delivered in one day? WOW! Glad it all worked out and you had a remaining safe trip.

Yes Mark,

My wife and I were just talking about how lucky we were. Only issue is the new axle looks very different. Thinner, bowed in the middle and the no brake wire housing.

I'm thinking of coming out to the rally and maybe have someone from Crossroads look over it.

Update on our repair in June.

Kudos taken back...seriously..It appears after a review by our local Camping World the knucklehead mechanic installed the axle upside down at the Buffalo Camping World when they modified the mounting plate and it subsequently buckled. Been waiting for 3 weeks with no trailer. Labor day weekend is also shot. Also need 4 new tires because of the damage. And oh, by the way the brakes stopped working since the wiring job was shoddy.

Svc Manager at local dealership said we were lucky the tires didnt cup and buckle.

Getting all new axle, tires..but got to wait...and wait...and wait..
