Off to Alaska!!

Left this morning on our 4 week, 5,000 mile round trip to Alaska. Easier for us because we start a lot closer than most. I'll update on road conditions and accomodations as we go. Starting with the first pic. Hooked up and ready to go this morning - if the truck looks low in the rear end, it's because of the change in ground level on my acreage! I have Airlift Wireless Air and Firestone air bags.

Tonight we are at Glowing Embers RV Park just West of Edmonton, AB. Nice place for a quick stop. Off to Dawson Creek, British Columbia tomorrow - Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway!

I hope all goes well. I am looking forward to reports on your trip. We plan to go there in two years.

We took an Alaska cruise two years ago and we want to take a longer trip up there with the trailer.

And the whole family is loaded! Our 22 year old daughter and Willow, our 20 month old shepherd/collie cross all decided to tag along!! First time in years our daughter has spent this much time camping with us - the starving student wanted a free holiday. Lol.

Have a fabulous trip! Are you going to make it to Skagway at all? I'm going up (flying) on Monday for August and September to work with my sister. Let me know. Always like to meet other Crossroads RV owners!

On the return South, we are cutting farther East and then down through BC so we won't get into the Skagway area this time. Beautiful area there, though.

From a former CR owner, hope you have a safe and memorable trip. We took an Alaskan cruise last June (my avatar came from Ketchikan), going back on another next June. An RV trip to Alaska is on my bucket list (way down the list as it's a long way from Texas!) Looking forward to the pics.

Just got back from a GA to Alaska and back motorcycle trip. Be careful with the rig around the destruction bay area on the Alcan. Don't underestimate the severity of the perma frost heaves.

Your trip is the reason we purchased our 5er last year. Can't wait to get the camper up there! Take and post a ton of pics

Pics to come. Not a lot to see so far, but we travelled from Edmonton,AB to Dawson Creek, BC (Mile 0 of the Alaska highway). Road was good except for 20 miles out and into Grand Prairie, AB - highway has some wicked dips every few 100 yards that even slowing down didn't help. But on our way to that, stopped at Whitecourt, AB for lunch and as unusual did my circle check of everything and my right rear trailer tire was really low. Pressure way down. Looked up the street and there was a KalTire shop a half block away. Drove it into the truck bay, they pulled the tire, picked up a one inch screw - no damage to the tire otherwise, fixed it and reinstalled on 30 minutes for $30. Big shout out to the staff there - very friendly and efficient. Back on the road to Dawson Creek in no time and no more issues.

Scott, have a great time! My father was in AK during WWII in the Army and always wanted to go back to the ALCAN. He passed before we could return my senior yr of HS, so I hope in the future I can take the trip for him. Pictures Plz!
