Travelin on New year's
Hi folks,
Made it through three weeks of southern Wyoming, Yellowstone and the Tetons in September. #perfectvacation.
Four weeks of crappie fishing in Mo.
Five weeks in October and November of deer and turkey hunting, in central Mo. (Some 13° temps) Emptied the holding tanks but kept water in the ole cruiser the whole time with no problems. #Yeaaaaa.
Home until New year's Eve. Then heading south for three months of warm Arizona sun. Now to my question.... Has anyone had trouble traveling on new year's Eve and New year's day with businesses being open? I hate it that anyone has to work at all, let alone on holidays but I don't want to get stranded in Texas or New Mexico with no fuel.
Appreciate any responses.
Happy travelin!

That is a load of Crappie! Sorry, couldn't resist...
Have come back from Florida on New Years Eve/Day with no issues.
Course the distances between services and towns is a bit different out west...

Yeah, I agree with no holiday for many services, gas, food, lodging, shopping. I wouldn't be too concerned, truckers will be out. Just don't go under 1/3 in West Texas just in case.

Oh, and sounds like a great trip to Yellowstone / Tetons. really want to go there for a bit but need a year where I can dedicate a week to that trip.

Thanks
Thanks for the replys. Planning on 500 mile days + or - . Which puts us in Gallup NM second night. It was 4° there last night. We've never traveled with the fifth wheel in the winter. So thinking we'll just get a hotel room instead of trying to stay in the trailer.
Thanks again for the replys,
Travelin Al

It was a good trip. We stayed at Fishing bridge RV park in Yellowstone 4 nights. They will be closed in 2019 for renovations to the park and roads. Which they needed real bad. Then stayed at Colter Bay RV park 5 nights, in Teton NP. which I highly recommend. Great hiking in the Tetons.
Enjoy your trip,

We stayed over night in a class c the first part of Jan. in Raton NM. As I remember, it was pretty cold that night. There was a pull off of some kind or another, and we shared the space with a couple semis.
If I was you, I would stay in the camper with the furnace running. You probably have things in there you don't want to freeze anyway.
Enjoy your trip.

Al-
We stayed at the KOA in Grants last May. One of our worst nights ever for the train horns, I swear, every 15 minutes all night. Even earplugs didn't work very well. If you stay in Gallup, which is similar to the proximity of I-40 and the train tracks, I suggest you get far, far away...unless you really, really like train horns. Just sayin'
