Trip planned and need advice on traveling Alamosa to Granby CO

Greetings,

Planning a trip and planning a leg possibly from Alamosa to Granby. Trip planner wants to take us us 17 to 285, pop on 70 to 9, 40 and 34 in to the campground. I'm sure it is beautiful however concerned about towing. Alternative is back through 25 N to Denver and head west. Anyone have experience with this route?

Check other forums for travel on this route and did not find anything in a quick search. Any help appreciated.

Very familiar with most of the route as I travel from Breckenridge and through Alamosa to get to New Mexico every spring. My suggestion is 17 to 285, left on 9 at Fairplay to catch I70 at Frisco. Then only 3-4 miles and back on 9 at Silverthorne and on up to Kremmling. Right on 40 to Granby. This way you avoid the steep climb and high passes at Winter Park if it tells you to take 70 to 40. Not sure how close this comes to your trip planner but thought I'd provide more detail. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the recommendations. This is close based on my CoPilot planner however the software did not bypass Winter Park so thanks a million for that route.
