Washington, DC

We are planning to visit Washington, DC on our way home from Florida next spring. Does anyone have any recommendations for campgrounds? Close to public transportation would be nice as we have no intention of driving downtown. Thanks.

Cherry Hill. I know a few people who have stayed there and loved it.

2X on Cherry Hill. And its not to far from the Green Belt line of the subway system, you can park your truck there and then take the subway just about may place in DC.

X3 on Cherry Hill. We have stayed there before and you can catch a Metro bus to the subway right at the campground gate. No need to drive anywhere. Plan to take the Metro everywhere you go ... it's much easier than finding parking.

Enjoy Washington. It's a great place to visit.

We also stayed at Cherry Hill Park, twice, and loved it both times...

We lived in DC for a while. The Metro is the best way to get around. It is the cleanest and safest of any subway system in the country. Very reasonable too. Not nearly as intimidating as the NYC subway system.

If you can, plan your spring trip to coincide with the cherry blossoms. They are breathtaking.

We will try to do that, thanks! We usually try to take advantage of public transit when visiting a city. Less stress that way!

I wanted to stay at Cherry Hill when we were up that way a couple of years ago. We ended up camping in Gettysburg and taking a bus trip into DC one day. That was pretty nice, the bus picked us up and dropped us off in the campground.

We are staying at Cherry Hill Park right now before making our way over to Shipshewana, Indiana next week for the Crossroads RV Rally. This is a super place. We have enjoyed our stay here for sure.

Further to this thread which I started in 2014, we are currently at Cherry Hill Park. This is an amazing campground! They have many amenities, probably the nicest laundry facilities I have ever seen, and they are so organized! They give you maps and information on anything you need and detailed information about the Metro system. Also, the internet is great. We could not be happier with this place. We always do some sight seeing on the way home from Florida and this year it's DC.
