Waterton is a great little park, just across the Montana/Alberta border. We went there last week, brought the Mother in law along. It was a fun trip, we all enjoyed ourselves. We stayed at the campsite on the south end of town. They have just under 100 full service sites with water sewer and 30 amp power. Great views in every direction, and usually deer in the campsite.
We did a lot of hiking and cycling there. It is very scenic, and not too crowded, especially on weekdays. Some of the hikes are an hour roundtrip back to the campsite, and some are most of a day. Here are some pics of the Crypt Lake hike we did. A boat dropped us off on the far side of the lake and picked us up again in the afternoon.
Looking back down the valley from about 2/3 the way up:
The start of the "I don't like heights!" section
Ellen, making it look easy.
A 60 foot cave we had to crawl through...
The part I really didn't like. Just behind Ellen there is about 40 feet where there is a cable attached to the rock face you hang on to as you crawl across!
No pics there, because I was too busy clinging to the rocks for dear life!
The reward at the end! 2300' elevation gain, 11 miles roundtrip.
And our ride back to town
We only took pictures on the way down, as we were having a friendly race to the top on the way up!
