Collasp of Landin gear!!!

This is very serious!!
I have a 2013 Washington, with the Lippert 6 pt Landing system.
While setting up my unit, I had a complete system collasp of the front landing gear due to the legs being installed improperly.
Camping world was hired to raise my unit up off the ground and upon inspection of the area they discovered that the front legs were installed wrong.
My unit could have collasped on any day at any time that I have owned the unit for 5 weeks and 5 days.

PLEASE! I am posting this to make folks aware a possible issue that could be LIFE THREATENING.

I would have a unit inspected if you have this system installed. Hopefully My unit is the only on with this issue.

What does Crossroads say about the landing gear being installed wrong?

If I were managing CR's Assembly line, I would have a crew at your campsite the next day and not leave till you were satisfied. Bad situation.

Is this a CR issue or Lippert?

Stan, I would think in this case they should both own up to the failure. The frame went through both their plants and inspection processes but still went out the door with a defect.

Glad no was was hurt and hope that CR and Lippert come to the plate soon without pointing fingers at each other. In the past we have commented on the welds coming out of Lippert. Ans as noted in the past CR is just as in fault as they don't seem to look at the frames before they start building the units. It seems it is back to get the frame in and finished trailer out.

I am searching for legal advice as we speak.
Frame is bent!!!!!
Plus I have a ongoing list of defects, up tp about 20 issues now.
I beleive that I am just getting over the shock & magnitude of what occured.

With the new warranty promise; Crossroads should be the single point of
contact, thus making the warranty process much faster. Promise #2: the
dealer should have a well stocked shop and be prepared for warranty
issues--speeding up the process. Promise #3: CR should have 24 factory
support to authorize the warranty claim--again, helping a speedy
repair. Instead of 26 weeks, maybe it will be fixed in 24 weeks. Just
in time to finish up the warranty.... and winterize!

aside, sorry about your bad luck. Glad everyone is OK. Hopefully CR
will step up to the plate on this one. Quality control is one thing,
but when it involves safety, its definitely not something to overlook.

Maybe this is not the case and I certainly hope I am wrong but if this trailer was sitting level on a level site then it was probably no higher than one to two feet from the ground to the bottom of the frame. If the landing gear completely just collapsed and the trailer went straight to the ground and that fall bent the frame that would worry me as to how strong the frame is are putting these trailers on. I understand that is a fair fall but should that alone bend the frame? I am by no means an engineer just wondering about thestrengthof these frames.

Crossroads/lippert have chosen to go with a 12" I-beam on the new Rushmore, only trouble is,it is paper thin, especially the web. My Seville has a 10" I-beam but it is much thicker and I'm willing to say stronger. I saw the bigfoot system on a tour of the plant. Wasn't too impressed.Would rather have ahydraulic system, stronger but more expensive which explains their decision.

The fall was about 1'. Tounge Wt plus gear probably 2400 #. People came running from 3 streets over to see what crashed. I do know that both of my propane doors are racked, my entrance door drags when opening orclosing. something has severly happened to the frony end of the rig. I believe either the frame bent or the entire wall panels have shiifted donwward.

I do have many photos that I have forwarded to CR. But, I believe that I need to keep this information between the effected parties at this time.

No, we were outside operating the landinding system.

Other than the terrible damage and stress caused by this failure, this collapse could have occured at anytime inthe past 6 weeks. Even when my DW would be under the front end holding the cable & brake away cable out of the way while guiding me back to hook up.
