AC issues

We have a 2014 Elevation 3612 and have been having issues with the a.c. unit keeping up with the heat. It has been doing it since we bought the unit. We have changed out filters, and even got up on the roof and clean the coils several times. Nothing seems to help. It does feel like it is blowing out cold air but all the other campers around us can hold low temperatures the best we can do is 77 or 78 degrees during the middle of the day. Has anybody else had issues similar to this and if so what did they do? Thanks in advance

Check the end of your duct work runs. They sometimes don't close them off. I cut a piece of 1' foam and caulked it in place to close off the duct work.

Another place to check would be to remove the outlets in the ceiling where the A cool air comes out. Some times they have been known to be disconnected from the main run.

#1 pull the vents & check to see if the collars on the vents are Not too tall, others have found the collars are 1 1/2" in a 2" duct, you may have trim them down, #2 remove the covers on the roof to find the metal cover with several screws holding it in place & remove to check if the foam gasket separating the outflow from the return is in place, if not use aluminum duct tape to secure it back in place, #3 as mentioned above check to see if they closed the end of the ducts, I used 1" pipe foam & horseshoed into the ends of the ducts. Hopefully these will help your cooling as they are all issues found on the Redwood 5ers which were built on the same assembly line as the Rushmores.

I've talked to a couple RV dealers lately. Seems Dometic has had some real issues. One blamed it on out sourcing to Mexico. One yesterday said it was the change to 410A refrigerant. Said they didn't change anything other than refrigerant on the units. So, this is my deduction.....out sourced to Mexico to change refrigerant. Wonder if this might be a cooling issue? I've never fooled with 410A, but IIRC, I've seen where it runs higher pressures, and needs more condenser cooling surface.

My suggestions on the roof were for Coleman air conditioners, the indoor suggestions would be the same.
