Towing the 231FB

Hi!

We just purchased a 2013 Boundry Waters ZT231FB. It's a special edition Z-1. It weighs 5025lbs and has a hitch weight ~600lbs. This is with nothing in it.

I have a 1500 Silverado with the HD towing package. It tows 9600lbs and 600lbs hitch weight limit. It tows it fairly well even in 35-40mph cross winds.

My question is this, do I really need to get a load distribution hitch, or can I just put some extra weight behind the trailer axles to lower the tongue weight?

Get a WD hitch and sway control. your loaded pin weight is going to exceed your hitch rating

I have seen that before and find it interesting, but I don't know anyone who has tried it. I use the Equal-i-zer
