Looks like the new 2014 RAM is going to be a towing machine, they keep making these changes and I might have to trade again.

Now that Ram has broke away from the Chrysler umbrella they don't have to share the R-and-D money with all the other chrysler products. Maybe they should have done that a long time ago. It would be nice to trade in, but if I traded in my truck already, DW might consider trading me in... I better stick with the one I got.....

Where did you come up with the idea that Ram "broke away from Chrysler"? Ram is a wholly owned division of Chrysler just as are Dodge and Chrysler.

GM showed the new 2015 Silverado and Sierra HD models today. If they are anything like the top rated 1500 series they are winners. These new HD models will be on sale in the first quarter of 2014.

Probably came from this article from a few years ago: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/chr...tives-car-news

After the bail-out fiasco a few years ago the separation was to help in the re-structuring. Its still owned by Chrysler but operates as a separate entity keeping its finances separate from the rest of the brands prevents the sharing of RnD between all brands. I'm sure alot of Dodges RnD funds are going towards the gas-misers instead of the heavy duty segment.
There are many news articles online discussing the separation as noted above, but here is another:

All the above quoted articles state is that Chrysler separated Ram from Dodge. It is still 100% a Chrysler product.

I was talking to our salesmen last night at the Dodge Dealership and I was asking questions about the 2014 RAM 2500 and he said that you want to stay away from the 5th wheel package because you have to order the hitch though RAM and they are on back order and are pretty much impossible to get right now. I don't understand why RAM made it where you have to order the hitch through them and no other hitch will work. I would be pissed if I bought a new RAM with the 5th wheel package and then told, oh by the way were not sure when your hitch will be in.

The fifth wheel hitch manufacture will have them available.. What he means is the vendor they are using is slow getting up his production, and there are some dealers who specialize in camper sales....I bet that these guys are ordering them for their stock. Also any parts department worth their salt will have one or two in stock
