2018 power wagon

Just bought a new 2018 2500 power wagon. Traded in a 2014 2500. Feels like they made some performance improvements on the engine, 6.4L Hemi, but gas mileage is not as good as the old one. Havent hauled my 32' hill country with it yet, but confidence is high.

Anyone who thinks Dodges, Chryslers, or Jeeps are the cats meow need to move on. The repair cycles, higher costs, and lost time on these vehicles are killers. TIPM is the big one right now. No warranty and $1800 to replace at 30K miles with no factory support for the anomily. Brakes suck big time and fuel economy is worst in class. Don't buy one, don't lease one and be very cautious if one is behind you in an emergency stop situation!

Congrats on the new truck. What is a power wagon in terms of features?

X2--Congrats.
All tho the term -- power wagon -- has been around for a long time, I have never really figured out what was meant by it.

C'mon, cut Charlie some slack, he just bought a new truck and is excited to share like we all do when we drop a ton of money on a new vehicle. I get it if you had a bad experience, this just isn't the thread to share.

If you want to play the “ buyer beware” card start a new thread. There’s also tons of Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge discussion here.

Me personally. I drive Ford and wish it had Ram styling and your Chevy transmission.

Congrats on the new truck. Please correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Power wagon a Factory off road version of the 2500 Ram? Rams version of a Ford Raptor only in 2500 trim.

As far as the reliability or quality of one brand verses any other we all have our preferred brands. That's why they make several different brands and more variations then you can count of each brand. Something for everyone and every lifestyle. So if you don't like one brand go up the road and find one you do like.

Remember we are in the same sandbox so lets play nice.

Yes Dagst1, the Power Wagon is the off road version of the 2500. The features of the Power Wagon are:
Transfer Case Skid plate
Belstein shocks
Front disconnecting stabilizer bar
12000 lb. Warn Winch

Plus a bunch of other upgrades that I could take or leave. Sunroof, automatic sliding back glass, Tru-Lok front and rear axles, 8" UConnect, Rambox Cargo Management System, rapid descent control, etc.

This is my 3rd Dodge pickup since 2008, the first cummins diesel, and the last 2 were 6.4L Hemi's. As far as reliability, the first lost a secondary fuel pump, and a speed regulator at around 150K, other than that, rock solid. The 2nd had some emissions evap issues around 80K, but other than that, rock solid to 92K. I hope this new one, which will probably be my last will hold up as good as the last 2. As far as difference in towing my 32' hill country, the gas handles it without any struggle. The diesel had to work hard on hills. Thanks for all of the Congrats.

Thanks for the reply. I think all of the big three make a "off road" version. As for the problem's you have had any brand has good and bad. I watched one of my favorite movies last night so just be thankful and please DO NOT name your new truck CHRISTINE !!

Sorry I couldn't resist.

If you like your truck, then you made a great choice.

I was all about my Chevy truck for 20 years. I knew it intimately. Turns out fixing or replacing just about everything on it gives you intimate knowledge and a unique relationship with every squeak, shimmy, and rattle.

Time for a new truck: my friends said try something else. 16 years later, my Ford F-250 7.3 Diesel has a little over 465,000 miles and still going strong. I don’t know jack about how it works ((replaced HPOP and injectors). Other than routine maintenance, it’s fine.

Now THIS truck I like. However, maybe my next one is a Dodge.

Everybody has a favorite (or least favorite). Share nicely.
