270BH Tongue weight - Reese load bars

I had a conversation with a tech from Reese last week regarding my hitch setup. When I mentioned the issue I'm having (proposing) he asked what my tongue weight was. Having not gone to a scale, I didnt know, until today.

Weight1: Connected to trailer
Truck 6980
Trailer 5560
Weight 2: Separate scales, no truck
Tongue 1060
Trailer 5480

I'm running 800lb trunion spring bars. No wonder I'm bouncy. I'm going to call Reese Monday, see if they can swap bars with me or at least let me trade up at a nominal fee. I think I'm going to end up with 1200lb bars.

If you've never put your trailer on a scale, do it. It can be very enlightening.

Contacted Reese to see if they'd let me swap bars...no. Oh well.
eTrailer gave me a little $ off for the new 1200lb bars. These are good for 600 - 1200 lbs. Wish I'd have bought those first.

Nice to know the tongue weight of yours, I have had the bouncing as well, I weighed my truck and trailer but I have not had a chance to weigh just the trailer and the tongue separately.

This is why I bought 1200# setup. My hitch weight is 990#, and I didn't want to be on the light side!
