B&W Patriot Hitch

Thinking about replacing my current 5th wheel and have been looking at the B&W. Anyone else have one? Likes - Dislikes - Good - Bad. And go!

I remember that post. Just looking over the pictures and the amount of damage to the hitch and truck i just wander if any brand hitch would have fared any better. Would love to see more pictures at the time of the accident.

Just reading reviews and not many are negative. Maybe someone with one with real world experience with one will chime in.

I've had Reese & Husky 5th wheel hitches then the B&W Companion which is hands down the better of the three plus they have great customer service.
Would highly recommend!!!
Regardless of brand, fairly sure there's not any hitch brand that would stand up to twisting the RV off of it in the manner shown in the previous post.

B&W hitch

I installed a B&W turnover ball hitch on my 1 ton dually truck in june of 2016. I have been towing a fifth wheel toyhauler that weighs in at 16,000 pounds empty. Been to Texas once and Florida twice from Indiana and a few local tows. I can't even tell the trailer is hooked to the truck. IMHO it is worth the cost.

I too have the B&W turnover ball with the companion 5th wheel and absolutely luv it with no complaints. 2018 Ram 2500 hemi tow rig and 2018 CRL28, or something, cruiser air. The ease of removal to gain full bed access is great.

After a rather deep internet search i can not find too many with anything bad to say about it. I already have the rails so going with the patriot instead of the companion. According to the B&W site they both use the same head.. The hitch i have now is over 20 years old and starting to show its age so time to replace and upgrade.

Thanks for all the input

I don't pull a 5th wheel but I do follow a few different peoples utube channels and this guy had a pretty desent review on a couple hitches that might be of interest to anyone looking.

A friend told me about The Anderson Hitch. I love it. Check it out on UTUBE and Amazon.

I looked into the Anderson hitch but its not for me. I did not like that you have to raise the hitch above the ball then lower it on to the ball like a bumper pull. I prefer the kingpin / back in. But the weight is a strong point. Its very light and easy to remove. But the last time my hitch base was removed was when i bought the truck. I take the head off periodically to check for wear and preform maintenance.

I totally agree!
Never have been able to get past the flimsy appearance of the Anderson hitches & dropping a 16.5k 5th wheel onto it regardless of all the comments of how well it works.
Also in 10+ years of full-timing I removed my hitch a handful of times & was able to to do so with the B&W Companion by myself without too much difficulty.

I have the andeson ultimate hitch with a hide a ball in the bed. I love it. This is currently my 4th 5th wheel I've towed with it. My current trailers gvwr is 14,500lbs. It weights about 35 lbs, goes in and out in 5 minutes. I think it rides smoother than a 5th wheel hitch because the trailer movement isn't all transferred to the truck.

It says it's rated for 36,000 lbs. I saw a video where they crushed one and it didn't fail until 52,000 lbs.
